♥ TAEMIN's WANT MV filming - Behind
OP did part-time in an art team that was in charge of various idols MV including TAEMIN’s ‘WANT'
OP mentions that details were greatly focused on and taken care of even for props that appear only for 2-3 seconds. For example, the spiderweb-like and curtain-like stage in Taemin’s WANT MV.
The curtain was made using this gigantic fabric. At first, there weren’t any tassels on the curtain but because the director wanted tassels on it, the art team had to add each and every tassel onto the curtain the day before the filming.
A picture to show how gigantic the curtain was… The one that is being covered up is Taemin and the curtain was 3 times his proportion.
Next, the spiderweb stage that nearly killed her (it was so tough) This was taken when it was really cold in winter. So many strings needed to be connected on the huge pole w/o them tangled up. After raising the pole, they had to tie this & that, and cut it to make spiderwebs.
Thanks to that, the scene really came out well. He danced on that narrow glass panel. OP was so scared that he might slip.
The scene that OP felt a little wasted... Those blue fabrics were really really pretty fabrics but because of the vapor, it can’t be seen at all. The second picture was one that OP saved when she was working.
Side Note 1: This stage and the stage with the shining pole were at a wedding hall. It is where the bride and groom make their entrance.
Side Note 2: That’s a real snake, not 3D. OP & an unnie from her team had to warm up the snakes using a heater because this filming was taken on a winter day.
OP wore a cotton working glove when she was putting the snakes onto Taemin while screaming internally... On the other hand, Taemin didn’t even blink... The problem was that the snakes kept on wanting to go to the ground so they had to call cuts constantly.
The set that OP personally felt was cool. The carpenter came 2 days before the filming to set up which was being done with basic tools and frames before the art team arrived to set up the lighting, props and etc. The tree in the middle was really really an expensive one.
There were pretty fabrics and warm water in the tub (OP added that ‘Sorry that it got cold while the filming was ongoing’) but only the scene where it rains from above appeared for a few seconds...
A behind the scene that OP personally finds funny was this scene where the magnifying glass would be moved down one by one. It was done with each person on both sides holding onto the magnifying glass while they match the timing to move it down. This was taken nearly 6 times.
OP shared that each and every prop was made from scratch, from the mic spraying to the floor spraying. The floor was initially not white too, it was painted white.
OP shared that whenever they call cuts after Taemin dances, the staffs and director would applause altogether. OP has worked for other idols’ MV over that period of time too but Taemin did really outstandingly well.
OP remembered that they got to eat one chicken per person, ginseng chicken (samgyetang). OP was clearly aware that it wasn’t from a food truck support from anyone and suddenly heard while she was eating that it was Taemin who treated them.
Also, the Taempolian and white T-shirt images were taken in between the filmings. OP thought it was going to be for photocards or Instagram use but later when she saw the pictures, she was stunned… That place where Taemin took those pictures was really just a corner of the stage.
OP wonders, if it was because the stage scale and its art details were so detailed that Taemin’s acting and dancing were done so well which allowed the filming to end in 3 days as planned. The last wedding hall stage filming was done at dawn.
